What is the World Youth Foundation?

The World Youth Foundation (WYF) is an International Non-governmental Organization (NGO)  which was launched in 1994 with the aim to promote development, research and documentation beneficial to the youth worldwide. The Foundation is an NGO with Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) and seeks to support the work of the UN, i.e the World Programme of Action for Youth and newly endorsed Sustainable Development Goals 2030. We are a Non-Discriminatory and  a Non-Political organization. We firmly stand for our own vision for world peace and the fulfillment of Mankind’s potential.

What does WYF do?

World Youth Foundation seeks to create opportunities for youth to get involved and grow, regardless of where they are in the world. Our activities include engagement in dialogues, conferences, training, seminars, exchange programmes, consultative and knowledge based research. Our activities support our programmes in knowledge sharing, capacity building, civic engagement, educational and cultural exchanges, local outreach programmes among others.

What youth issues are addressed by WYF?

WYF works with the youth to help resolve issues related to education, HIV/AIDS, drug and substance abuse and violence against women to name a few. WYF’s has numerous programmes to promote empowerment for young women, youth employment,  community development entrepreneurship, globalization,  leadership training, etc. WYF programmes educate youth about climate change, disaster risk management, sustainable development, human rights, culture and diversity, peace and religion, conflict resolution, terrorism, racism, democracy,  population, poverty and hunger-management.

What have you achieved?

In recognition of our work the WYF was granted the

  • ‘Special Consultative Status’ with the Economic and Social Council ECOSOC in 2004
  • ‘Civil Society Status’ from United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in 2007
  • Operational Status with the National Commission of UNESCO Malaysia in 2012
  • Full membership with the Commonwealth Youth Council in 2014.

Who can attend WYF activities and events?

Representatives from youth organizations, youth workers and youth leaders, Civil society organizations, Government organizations, Corporate Organizations and students of higher learning institutions whose concerns are related to youth issues. We also organize open events throughout the year.

How can I volunteer with the WFY?

How can I launch a campaign through WYF?

Where does WYF get its funding from?

WYF gets funding from corporates bodies, international and local organizations, ministries and related agencies, individuals etc. WYF accounts are audited by an external auditing company.

Is WYF a charity organization?

WYF is charity organization registered in Malaysia. However, the Foundation is not a grant awarding organization.
