This five (5) days event will provide an opportunity for young people from around the globe to come together to discuss, understand, share, find solutions and develop strategies on issues pertaining to violence extremism, peace, inclusive societies and how they are building resilience in their comunities to prevent violence extremism.

The International Conference on “Youth, Peace and Violent Extremism” will operate primarily in an interactive mode. During the five days of International Conference, key issues relating to violent extremism will be presented by local and foreign speakers in the form of interactive lectures, case studies, video documentaries, skills sharing workshops, utilizing multi-media and informal discussions through active participation among participants. On the last day of the International Conference, participants will formulate a Youth Action Plan.

International Conference on “Youth, Peace and Violent Extremism” will be held 30th July – 3rd August 2018 (tentative) at Melaka, Malaysia. (More details on the venue will be provided when available).

  • Young people between the age of 18-32 (limited spaces are available for those above the age of 32 years as Observers);
  • Officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Foreign or Domestic Affairs, or related agencies;
  • Representatives from Non-Government Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, multilateral organizations, institutions of higher learning, corporate bodies or related stakeholders;
  • Proficient in English and able to do presentations in English, is a Must;
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrate strong leadership abilities, perseverance, have strong integrity committed, passionate in fostering change
  • Capable and willing to share experiences and resources with others in the community and contribute to the follow-up process
  • Willing and being able to participate actively for the whole duration of the event;
  • Geographical and gender balance will be respected.

Fill in/download the Application Form at www.wyf.org.my and submit the Application Form via email or fax. When your application is reviewed and approved, you will be issued a Letter of Confirmation.

Step 1  : Fill up Application Form at www.wyf.org.my

Step 2  : After submission of the Online Form, please send by email the following required documents to wyfhq@wyf.org.my:

  • Your Passport size photograph
  • A scan of the identification page of your passport (Only photo page) – save as PDF format

Step 3  :Wait for the confirmation letter.

Step 4 : Pay the registration fees within 14 days of receipt of the confirmation letter from WYF, delegate need to pay the registration fee to secure their seat.

Step 5 : Confirm your flight details

Step 2: Submit your application via email wyfhq@wyf.org.my or fax with the following required documents:

  • Your Passport size photograph
  • A scan of the identification page of your passport (Only photo page) – save as PDF format

Step 3: Wait for the confirmation letter.

Step 4: Pay the registration fees within 14 days of receipt of the confirmation letter from WYF, delegate need to pay the registration fee to secure their seat.

Step 5: Confirm your flight details and fill up the Confirmation of Acceptance.

Submitting your Application Form

You need to send your application form by email to wyfhq@wyf.org.my with the email subject line in this format “Application YPVE2018_FIRST NAME_Last Name_Country”. Please send only one email with all attachments. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed or considered.

The participation cost has been set with a view that it is considerably affordable for participants coming from all backgrounds. However, participants are expected to cover their travel related expenses including visa and accidental charges. Participation fee has been set up as below:

  • Accommodation: 4 nights stay on twin-sharing basis from 30th July – 3rd August 2018
  • Meals including Breakfast, Lunch, Coffee Break during the official International Conference dates, from the 30th July – 3rd August 2018 have been arranged and will be covered by the organizers. For participants with special dietary requirements, the organizers will make arrangements as much as possible to adjust the meals accordingly.
  • Airport transfer to official venue Hotel from KLIA, KLIA2 and Melaka International Airport for international participants arriving on 30th July 2018 (from 06:00a.m.  – 11:00 p.m. only). Participants arriving before 30th July 2018 will have to find their own way to the Hotel.
  • Airport Transfer to KLIA/KLIA2 and Melaka International Airport for international participants departing on 3rd August 2018 (from 2.00pm – 6.00 pm only).
  • All participants arriving by road or rail will have to find their own way to the Hotel.
  • Conference materials including nametag, folder, etc.
  • A Certificate of Participation.

Important notes regarding transfers/ payments

  • Please type your full name in the payment details when you submit your wire transfer. This enables us to verify that the payment was made by you.
  • If someone else is making the payment on your behalf they must indicate your name on the bank remittance advice / PayPal transaction.
  • You are responsible to pay for the bank charges from your bank and to ensure that the organizers receive the payment in full amount without any deduction for bank charges. We reserve the right to ask for payment of outstanding amount payable in cash upon the delegates’ arrival if bank charges are not paid by delegates at the time of transfer.

  •  If payment is made by cheque / draft / local order, it must be made payable to “World Youth Foundation”. The cheque / draft / local order must be sent by courier mail to “World Youth Foundation”.

Cancellation Policy

In case you are unable to attend the International Conference on “Youth, Peace and Violent Extremism”, request for cancellation or substitution must be received in writing to World Youth Foundation via email or fax at least 60 days prior to the start of the International Conference. We reserve the right to refuse admission if payment is not received on time.

Participants are responsible for their own air-travel and travel-related costs.

Malaysia has excellent domestic air link and a well-developed and effective public transportation system served by buses, taxis and trains. The better way to fly to Malaysia is by Malaysian Airlines directly or its partner airlines (www.malaysiaairlines.com) and we recommend that you book your ticket online which is much cheaper. The landing airport in Malaysia is Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Sepang (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport2 (KLIA2).

You can also fly to Malaysia via AirAsia or AirAsia X (www.airasia.com) which is a leading budget airline. AirAsia network focus will cover destinations which are less than 4 hours in flight duration from Kuala Lumpur while AirAsia X covers destinations which are more than 4 hours flight duration from Kuala Lumpur, offering daily point-to-point frequencies to popular destinations in China, India, Europe, Korea, Australia and several others.

Malindo Air is an airline based in Malaysia, headquartered in Petaling Jaya. It is a joint venture between National Aerospace and Defence Industries of Malaysia and Lion Air of Indonesia. Less than 2km away from KLIA (http://www.klia.com.my/index.php?m=airport), is the new KLIA2 terminal which was opened on 2nd May 2014. The new KLIA2 is built to be Malaysia’s Next Generation Hub-International Airport Hub that allows seamless connectivity for both local and international low-cost plus full services carriers.

Participants from Malaysia will have to find their own way to the Hotel.

We are unable to provide any financial assistance.

We suggest you to check with local and international organizations in your region for sponsorship. Other delegates have found subsidy and sponsorship through searching the internet, approaching their local NGOs/GOs, businesses, friends, international funding agencies and even family.

We will provide approved applicants with a Formal Confirmation Letter to facilitate the application of Entry visas. You can present this official letter to the Embassy of Malaysia if you are applying for an entry visa.

Please note that the confirmation notice does NOT guarantee the issuance of a visa or admittance to the Country. Visa issuance is entirely contingent upon the Embassy’s and Consulate’s discretion, and admittance upon the Immigration authorities’ (INS) discretion at the point of entry.

We would also recommend that you check the following websites i.e. http://www.kln.gov.my/web/guest/home (Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia) and www.imi.gov.my (Department of Immigration) on visa and immigration rules. We would also advise all participants who need visa to make sure they apply for visa as soon as their participation is accepted. Please also make sure that you comply with immigration requirements for yellow fever certificates.

Yes. You can still attend the International Conference on “Youth, Peace and Violent Extremism” as an observer. Limited spaces are allocated to observers. The fees are the same as for any delegate.

Yes; the full registration fee is still applicable. However, you will not be eligible for the Certificate of Participation unless you complete the full program.

The program of the International Conference will be intense, therefore if you want to visit Melaka / Malaysia, we advise you to arrive few days before the International Conference or stay few days longer after the event, at your own cost.

The dress code for the International Conference is formal for all sessions (no tie is required). Torn jeans and slippers/flip flop/sandals are not allowed during the International Conference proper.

Participants are advised to pack light clothing for tropical weather. It may be advisable to pack lightweight windbreaker and a light sweater and bear in mind to bring comfortable walk-up shoes/sandals/sneakers. The Conference rooms are air-conditioned, so please bring a light jacket.

The dress code for the opening and closing ceremony is traditional. It is recommended to bring a flag of your country (any size) for the opening and closing ceremony. There will be group photo sessions during both ceremonies.

Your complete Application Form must reach the organizers of the International Conference on 13th July 2018 at the very latest. Application Forms received after this deadline may not be considered.

Your application will be processed once the organizer receives your completed registration. You will be receiving a Confirmation Letter in approximate seven (7) working days. Due to large amount of applications, we ask you to kindly be patient, and only contact us regarding your application status if you do not hear from us after seven (7) working days.
