ICYO 2019

International Conference on “Youth, Ocean and SDG 14”

"The part that I enjoyed about the conference was getting perspective on what other countries are doing to foster sustainable practices that affect the life below surface. Many people work passionately in their respective fields, and it is great to be able to connect the dots, where organizations can collaborate"

William Hopkinson New Zealand December 12, 2019

"Coming from a non-ocean background, the conference sure gave me lots of insights on what is happening to our ocean. My organization is indirectly working to stop the use of single-use plastic bottles, so that coming from a non-environmental background does not matter because you can always learn while working for the better future. "

Trifitri Muhammaditta Indonesia December 13, 2019

"The part of this conference that I find most affecting me is the beach clean-up. At the same time, this prevent certain amount of waste going to the ocean and raise awareness and knowledge about ocean, waste categorization and so on. "

Tran Man Linh Vietnam December 13, 2019

"It was a real pleasure to meet you at the Youth, Ocean and SDG 14 conference. It was so inspiring hearing the 'eco leaders' of the future share their ideas and current projects in their communities. Thank you so much for including me in the panel discussion. I am really looking forward to keeping in touch. "

“Staffs / Volunteers / Interns”

During my volunteering tenure with WYF for about four years I  acquired comprehensive knowledge and understanding in the field of media and communication as well as volunteer management. As I was an online volunteer,  I had the opportunity to select the tasks that I could fully utilize my skills and  competencies to help causes I felt strongly about.

Vesna Markovic Comunication Volunteer December 13, 2019

It was an amazing experience volunteering for the World
Youth Foundation. It’s indeed a noble deed Varsha and
the team at WYF are doing towards the youth of the
world. I am very grateful to her for giving me this
opportunity to be a part of the team. This experience has
been extremely gratifying.

December 13, 2019

My experience as Volunteer Online at the World Youth Foundation has been very rewarding, which has allowed me to improve myself at lot in the field of online volunteering, and to be in touch with other volunteers I have much loved thanks to their dedication, and perseverance.

Saa Timothe Milimono Volunteer February 28, 2019

Volunteering with World Youth Foundation has been an amazing journey of learning about critical issues and solutions, enriching myself, empowering youths, and contributing to a better future for all. Taking the step to volunteer has been a one of the best decisions as it gave me a platform to take volunteering work a step further and make a bigger impact. I am grateful to Miss Varsha for believing in me and all the incredible friends and people I have met along the way. I got a closer look at the passion they have in their selfless work to make the world a sustainable and peaceful place for the generations to come. I will not forget the memories created with World Youth Foundation. May the youths of the future be more creative, innovative, initiative, open-minded, wise and caring towards the society and foster a loving environment in the world. I will carry these lessons learnt from volunteering with WYF wherever I go to be more conscious of my actions and make a difference in the society.

Patricia Sasidaran Volunteer February 28, 2019

“My internship experience with world Youth Foundation has been overall satisfactory. During my internship, I had the opportunity to attend the World Urban Forum 9 (WUF9) which was very informative. Other than that, I also gained some experience in event planning, especially through hosting the Networking Session at WUF9. My superior and colleagues have been helpful to assist me throughout my internship and I am very grateful for their help. Being an intern in WYF expanded my knowledge, particularly on the SDGs, and I learned how WYF is educating and empowering youth around the world through their activities. My experience here inspired me to be more aware of the issues happening around the world, especially when they are related to the SDGs, and also how I can start taking action in my own settings to make the world a better place.”

CHUA Yong Yu Intern February 18, 2018

Working in World Youth Foundation was a wonderful experience. I was a fresh graduate with no work experience. Slowly, with the help of my superiors and colleagues, I learned how to manage myself.
Working in World Youth Foundation taught me on how to become a leader by taking responsibility in whatever work I do. I learned how important teamwork was in event planning and implementation.
I was also given an opportunity to go to WFUNA Youth Seminar which broaden my knowledge on the Sustainable Development Goals especially Goal 16 - Peace.
I feel grateful to everyone in World Youth Foundation for giving me this amazing opportunity of a lifetime. I will, forever treasure the wonderful moments as I move on to another chapter of my life.

Nurul Hamizah Malaysia September 25, 2017

It was a great experience for me to complete my internship at World Youth Foundation. Being a first timer, i gained a lot of experience working in the office. My Supervisor and staffs are very helpful and friendly. It is a fruitful journey for me because World Youth Foundation had organized several activities that related to the SDGs to engage and empower the society. I felt grateful and blessed as I not only gain precious memories through the events organized but was also able to do something good to the society. This is very meaningful to me as it added value to my life. I will not forget this blissful life experience and the many lessons that i learn at World Youth Foundation.

My summer break of 2017 was spent in Melaka, interning at the World Youth Foundation. It was amazing to be in Melaka, especially during all the celebrations that were there during that time, the city was alive and dynamic. I was able to learn skills that one cannot learn in a classroom and get a sense of what I did and did not like about working at the NGO. I was also fortunate to be able to make some contributions in organizing big events hosted by WYF, where I could enjoy and at the same time push my “limits”. If anyone has an interest in sustainable development, it is extremely valuable to your future career to intern in World Youth Foundation and make as many connections as possible.

Yelnur Zhumagaliyev Intern September 25, 2017

"Interning at World Youth Foundation is the best decision I could have made for my industrial training. This internship has not only allowed me to hone my skills but it also gave me a strong foundation for my career goals and in fact, life.
I was brought into a full-fledged event management operation. From press release to building social media strategy to interview sessions with the workshop’s speakers, I made the most of duties given to me. As a communication student, I would recommend this internship to everyone who is looking to get a glimpse on NGO work life. WYF will not disappoint you!
